Alixandra "Ali" Greenwood [Resurgence LARP] : "Bad News"

[Josée's Note: So, I missed last Resurgence. I know, I know! And it was an important one. There had been talk of attempting to go back in time to rescue Nat before he could die. I was gutted to miss it, but I had woken up at 6:30am the day before to go to London to be in the audience as a TV show was filmed, and hadn't got home until 1am on the day of the game. I was totally unfit to fight safely, and in a combat-heavy LARP, it means it was best for everyone that I didn't turn up. (Plus, Ali would have been gutted to be there and be unable to defend people. She'd have to go all "Kitiara" and make some kind of oath of pacifism for the day to stop her from getting involved! And that would be too boring for dear old Ali! :D) So...I posted in character on the Resurgence LARP Facebook group...and the following post is Ali's reason for not turning up...and response to what she was told! I have no idea how much of the story I have or whether its right, which is AWESOME.]

Bad News

Ali's eyes opened, and hastily shut again.

Ouch, ouch, ouch...too bright. Much too bright. And what the fuck is that din?

Opening her eyes as little as she could, she squinted to see around the room. Her head pounded as she tried to make sense of the situation. This...wasn't bed. She twisted her neck and felt the nerves and muscles ping and twang as they were pulled from the position they had settled in for the night. Lifting an arm to massage the aching muscles, she felt a similar feeling in her shoulder and elbow, and as she flexed her wrist, the feeling spread.

Alixandra "Ali" Greenwood [Resurgence LARP] : "Alone Again"

[Josée's Note: So, I returned to Resurgence LARP after something of an absence! And...NPCing, I created the very first player kill! Yay! What wasn't so "yay" was that that character was Nat! Cue Ali desperately searching for a way to bring back the man she loved, and growing more and more desolate as each option crumbled. So...here is Ali's personal aftermath.]
[Note: Some Bad Language]

Alone Again

She shouldn't have been walking home alone.

She had offered Nat a place to sleep; a place to stay when needed. She shouldn't have been walking home alone. Her stomach was in tight, twisting knots, her mind replaying the words of her colleague as he broke the news of Nat's death to her. Death was not unknown to Ali, nor did it scare her anymore...but...this was Nat. This was the one man she had felt something stronger than comradeship for in her entire life. This was the one man she had broken her cardinal rule for; "Never get attached".

Poked by the "Plot Stick" (and an Out-of-Character Plea)

So...as those of you who were at the last Empire game (July 2015) or have read my last post will know, Lunetta's game got...interesting. Since the game, I have faced a lot of conflict and quandaries regarding the decisions that were made during the game, both my myself and by my character (this distinction is important) and thought that a post about such situations might do me some good!

Felix and Lunetta [Empire LARP] : "Fleeing Anvil"

[Josée's Note: Well, this Empire was certainly not a boring one! Lunetta was hunted by some plot, and decided to give it a nice old poke. This lead to her almost giving up her soul to look after a boy who had become a Herald of Mazen as a Herald of Lashonar. This was only stopped by her Cardinal attempting to murder her, which forced her to give up her course of action to make sure that he didn't end up facing the death penalty. She got in trouble with her Carta (understandably, to some extent) and decided that the only safe place for her was not in the League, her home, but with her Cardinal in Highguard. Cue "Fleeing Anvil" with her adopted children and her husband...but not all together.

This post features Draiton, Felix's player, as a guest writer, telling Felix's part of the tale.

This is likely to be the first in a series of posts about Lunetta and Felix's...unusual...journeys.]

His last embrace of Lunetta before following Galbraith into the rain had been all too brief for the terrified cambion. How many words he had wished to tell her, what little time they had. It’d all been a whirlwind of experiences that Felix was not quite ready for and had plunged into the deep end. But as always, sink or swim, he would survive.

Alixandra "Ali" Greenwood [Resurgence LARP] : 'Past, Present and Future'

(Josée's Note: So...I am home, playing Resurgence once more! And this game, as ever, provided some clear drama for Ali and her favourite Djinn, Nat. It all went a bit wrong, shall we say? Ah, and the slowly blooming romance was going so well!)

(Mood Music: "I am the One / Je Suis L'Élue" from Dragon Age Inquisition)

Past, Present and Future

Ali slowly walked through the long grass, her hands sweeping through the wild flowers that grew all along the river. She had made her way to Whitlingham, keen to put as much distance as possible between her and the rest of the world. On her back was a rucksack, and in her hands was a chain, her fingers running over it, much like a rosary.

"They Fit Just Like an Old Glove..."

Slightly later than intended, but here is my half-Resurgence, half-general gaming post.

After the Resurgence game on Sunday, I was trying to find the best way to write about it; whether I was going to write a letter or a stream of consciousness or a conversation or...something...

And actually, all I could think about was "Awh, it was so easy to get back into character...even after all these months...", which got me thinking.

Update!

Hello everyone, Josée here!

If you're wondering why the site has been somewhat quiet over the past few months, there are several different reasons, but the first and the main one is that the LARP season has sort of ended, and won't pick up again until early April. Resurgence is still running, but (reason #2), I live seven hours away during the term time due to my...interesting...level of geography skill (Universities aren't usually chosen for their extreme distance from home.)

However!!!

I am back home and I know of one Resurgence game occurring while I'm here. So...

Get ready for a Resurgence post tomorrow evening!

Josée
